About Me
I’m Sam Roads, a senior marketer with over 20 years’ experience. I’ve led marketing for startups, charities and tech firms, sometimes on a shoestring, sometimes with seven-figure budgets.
I’ve founded and grown four Welsh businesses, trained hundreds of business owners for Google, and worked hands-on with organisations like Cardiff Samaritans and Kaleidoscope Project.
I specialise in making sense of messy situations, spotting the biggest issues fast, and helping teams take action without wasting time or money.
Case Study: Kaleidoscope Project
Kaleidoscope’s marketing had settled into a routine; the small in-house team was stretched thin and hadn’t had time for CPD; they hadn’t been able to step back and make a clear plan. They needed practical, hands-on support to understand what was working, fix gaps, and build a sustainable strategy.
We started with a full audit. That uncovered several areas for improvement:
- Their Birchwood site wasn’t even appearing in search results. After a deep dive into technical and content SEO, it ranked #1, and traffic grew fivefold.
- Their main website was overloaded with unnecessary content. I overhauled the navigation, rewrote key pages in plain English, and simplified the recruitment funnel.
- Their brand voice needed long-term work. We made a plan, but also found quick wins that improved clarity straight away.
Some team members had never had formal marketing training, they’d simply been handed the job. I delivered tailored sessions to build confidence and skills quickly. For one team member already doing a marketing degree, I focused on more advanced, technical support.
What made it work? I didn’t just deliver a to-do list, I helped them understand the why and the how. That made the changes stick.
“Beyond the technical expertise, what stood out was Sam’s collaborative approach and genuine commitment to our cause.” — Claire Chandler, Marketing Manager, Kaleidoscope Project

“As a result of a constructive critique of our online presence we were able to refine our activities making them simpler and more attractive. Sam was particularly good at explaining sub-optimal approaches to communication and enabling us to recognise this and make improvements.”
